Midland Dining Room
At the Midland Grand Dining Room in London, the renovation led by Hugo Toro reworks the original Victorian architecture with a mix of restored historic elements and contemporary additions.
The marble columns were cleaned and repaired, the painted ceilings restored, and the decorative mouldings regilded to bring back the character of the space. Alongside this, Toro introduced modern seating in curved velvet forms and sculptural lighting to soften the atmosphere.
The design draws on the tradition of Parisian brasseries while maintaining a sense of refined elegance and a relaxed atmosphere. Balancing historic and contemporary elements, the Midland Grand Dining Room maintains its original character but has been refreshed to serve modern needs.
