Hugo Toro is a French-Mexican artist, architect, and interior architect originally from eastern France. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture from Penninghen in Paris before completing a second Master’s degree in Architecture between Vienna and Los Angeles.

At just 35, Toro has established an international reputation through a series of acclaimed projects spanning hospitality, residential, and cultural design. His portfolio includes a private hôtel particulier in Paris, the atelier of Villa Albertine in New York City, the Michelin-starred restaurant PUR’ on Place Vendôme, Marlow in the Mareterra district of Monaco, as well as renowned hospitality destinations such as Le Mas Candille and Hotel La Minerva, the first Orient Express hotel.

A lifelong fascination with construction and design has shaped Toro’s creative language from an early age, evident even in the meticulously crafted cabins he imagined and built as a child. Today, his work is distinguished by an exceptional attention to detail, a strong narrative sensibility, and a refined dialogue between architecture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere.

His influences draw equally from Europe and Latin America. Art Deco remains central to his aesthetic vocabulary, alongside the architectural legacy of Otto Wagner and the masterful use of color and texture pioneered by Luis Barragán.

Alongside his architectural practice, Hugo Toro has cultivated a parallel artistic practice through drawing, painting, and collectible design. In May 2022, he unveiled his first collection of collectible furniture at Christie's. In February 2025, at the invitation of Her Excellency Ambassador Blanca Jiménez Cisneros, he presented his first large-scale painting exhibition, Aguas que murmuran, at the Institut Culturel du Mexique in Paris, marking a significant new chapter in his artistic journey. This momentum continues with his first solo exhibition at Perrotin in New York City, scheduled for June 2026.

Today, from his Paris-based studio of around twenty collaborators, Hugo Toro leads an expanding portfolio of international projects, including restaurants in Paris, Miami, and Seoul, a hotel in New York, and private residences in Sologne, Ibiza, and Marrakech.
