Ostiense station

2025
PHOTOGRAPHER: Alexandre Tabaste

Located inside Roma Ostiense station, the Orient Express lounge designed by Hugo Toro blends historical charm with contemporary elegance. The project takes inspiration from Art Deco and reinterprets it through a refined, modern lens. Close attention is paid to the materials which work to define the atmosphere as a whole.

Original mosaics by Giulio Rosso and Maria Zaffuto have been preserved, along with the use of travertine, a material closely linked to Roman architecture. The space features a reflective orange ceiling and tubular neon lighting, which add brightness and contrast to the historic setting.

The design combines architectural details such as coffered inspired elements with travel themed artworks, creating a coherent environment that reflects both the function and rich history of the station.
