Ostiense station
Located inside Roma Ostiense station, the Orient Express lounge designed by Hugo Toro brings together historic elements and a contemporary approach. The project takes inspiration from Art Deco and reinterprets it in a simple, modern way, with strong attention to materials and atmosphere.
Original mosaics by Giulio Rosso and Maria Zaffuto have been preserved, along with the use of travertine, a material closely linked to Roman architecture. The space also includes a reflective orange ceiling and tubular neon lighting, which add brightness and contrast to the historic setting.
The design combines architectural details such as coffered inspired elements with travel themed artworks, creating a coherent environment that reflects both the history of the station and the idea of travel.
